Hey Guys,
TGIF! It’s great that the week is ending soon and how quick
time is passing. My exams are in a week’s time but what matters most is the
holiday that’s coming along!
Okie, if you have been reading the news and by news, I mean
your social media websites, you would have heard of Anton Casey.
If you didn't know about him,
1. Wow, have you been hiding under a rock?
2. The thing is that he posted pictures and comments on
Facebook saying that Singaporeans are poor for taking public transportation and
how we have a “stench”. (Actress Oon Shu An made a great comeback regarding the
“Stench”, read about it: http://sg.entertainment.yahoo.com/blogs/singapore-showbiz/local-actress-oon-shu-ann-open-letter-anton-031951568.html
)
Well, in all honesty, I think that he deserves some
applause. Why? If you remember some of the similar dramas in Singapore (For
example, Amy Cheong, Heather Chua), they all targeted their offensive remarks
to one particular group of people. Anton Casey? He went and targeted the whole
Singapore population. He does have some guts there (Not that I condone of).
After some nasty comments by Singaporeans, he went on and
posted a video retaliating them.
Thanks to this video, he got fired and his reputation got so
bad that he fled the country (Victory to us!)
I feel kind of sad for him, because he lost a relatively
stable and well-paid job. Who cares? He deserved it anyway. *High five to
anyone that agrees. #JustKidding
Needless to say, pretty much any Singaporeans that watched
this video would have been enraged. Honestly, I didn't feel anything at all
when I watched it, I kind of agreed with him.
“Blame your Mom and Dad for raising you a wuss”
Isn't that somewhat true that Singaporeans are wusses?
A wuss is someone weak. We
are weak.
When he posted all those pictures and comments, why did we
felt so enraged, angry? I’m not saying that we should remain indifferent, but
if you were to see the comments Singaporeans are posting, we did seem weak.
We are weak, when confronting others.
Our barks are indeed worse than our bite, or you can say, we
are a NATO.
No
Action,
Talk
Only.
We return attack at him with our nasty comments online, but would Singaporeans dare to
say that to him face to face?
We as Singaporeans, many times we can be very brave and talk
bad about others behind their back, but we just smile and wave in front of
others and pretend nothing happened.
Let me encourage you guys when you all have something
against someone.
Do not target the person online via Facebook or Twitter,
find him in person and confront him, or just send that person a text.
Here’s how you do it:
Hey (person’s name),
I think when you did (whatever that he did), I feel (how you felt). It’s not that I’m attacking you personally; it’s
just that it doesn't seem like the right thing to do. Maybe if you (suggest solution), I think it would've
been better. :D (Always end with a smiley face)
Let us be the bigger man (and woman ;D) and dare to point
the mistakes in others in a way that doesn't offend others, but help them change.
So till next time, stay awesome and rock on.
