Hey guys,
I’m back!
I am sorry for being MIA (Missing in Action) for a while,
well, quite a long time.
Since the Chinese New Year is around the corner, I felt it
was a good time to return. Writing has always been something that I enjoy
doing, i mean, the thought of writing with no restraints… Ah~!
Regardless of what, I was encouraged by one of the
reader/friend on my Facebook. (Add me! https://www.facebook.com/awesome.jasper.)
I was complaining on Facebook about how I much I was
tortured mentally by the sight of my favorite Chinese New Year goodies, and
how I weren't allowed to eat any since it was for the guests. I mean, pineapple
tarts, cashew nuts… How can you not fall for the temptation?

However, while making it a joke about it, I’ll realize that
there was something we can learn from it. That’s right people, you can learn
from Chinese New Year goodies. #HiddenTruth
The funny thing was that my family knows that I’m the rat of
the family and I would find and eat any food found at home. So to prevent this from happening, my family
would tape the bottles of snacks or they will hide the food at a less obvious
place… and I realized how sad this is. #NoLove
While we are on a sad note, let’s see what I can do in this
scenario.
1. I can just go
ahead and eat it.
Sure, no problem, I can go ahead and remove the tape
securing the bottle and frankly speaking, my family is really lousy at hiding
things from me. But what’s the point of restriction? Sometimes, rules and
restriction are there for a purpose, a lot of time it’s also for the good of
others. For example, if I ate all the goodies, what will we serve the guests
with? We won’t be a good host too for the guests that came all the way to our
house.
It’s more than a matter of looking good to the guests; try to
see the point of view as the guests. Would you want to visit a house for
Chinese New Year with nothing to eat or drink? (And yes, I am capable of
drinking gallons of sugar drinks. #DiabetesTypeII)
2. I can go and buy
my own goodies and enjoy it by myself.
The goodies although are special festival snacks that are
only made during the Chinese New Year, it isn’t way too pricey to the extent
that I can’t afford it. However, what’s the point of it? These goodies were
meant to share and enjoy with your family.
My aunt once told me, regardless of how good a meal is, if
you’re eating it alone, it’s tasteless. The fat old me wouldn’t understand what
she was trying to teach me, but if you get to experience what she was trying to
say, trust me, you’ll be hands down agreeing with me. I would generally eat
majority of my meals alone, initially I thought it was a good thing since I get
to choose whatever I want to eat. After a while, no matter how great my meal
was, it felt tasteless.
Similarly, although the goodies taste awesome and so irresistible,
it just wouldn't be the same. It will just lose its meaning if I were to take
the easy way out. There are some things in life that you just can’t take the
easy way out because you’ll just lose the real purpose of what you’re doing.
3. I can choose to
wait and appreciate the true meaning behind the goodies
Almost always, there’s a right way to do things. The reason
why you do the right things isn’t because it makes you feel good. I understand
the psychology behind doing charity works, it’s a win-win thing, people
benefit, and you feel good. However, the reason why you choose to do the right
things goes beyond the simple reason of feeling good. When you do the right
thing, you’ll get to see the real purpose and meaning behind what you’re doing.
For example, although I have lesser portion of the goodies
for myself because I have to share, the portion that I shared allows everyone
to get together, have a good time and maybe even a conversation starter.
If you notice, all things begin with, “I can”. Everyone has
a choice, there are always options available. Good or bad, it’s ultimately your
decision.
I’m sure you guys should have seen it lingering around the
internet for quite some time. The story
of two wolves,
Every scenario has a right and wrong reaction. Animals won’t
feel bad when they do something wrong, because they’re animals. Humans have morals
and that’s what makes us human.
Do what is right and not what the crowd is doing. :D
Till next post, stay awesome and rock on.
Some big announcements!
The reasons why I've stopped blogging for a while were
partly due to the pressure that I have to prepare and post it by Friday, it was
a bit stressful to juggle all my school works, my personal time and blogging. I've
decided to let this blog to continue be something that I enjoy doing and so, I
would continue to post one entry per week (or 2 a week), any day of the week. I
will also be posting on much different things like: My views on ___, Cool
things to do online, and photo journals! So to make sure you don’t miss any
entry, follow me on my social media websites!
